Community Engagement

Community Engagement Facilitator (2014-2015): Udita Samuel

What is Community Engagement?

McGill students do not live in a vacuum, but rather as part of the active, inspiring, and diverse Montreal community. The goal of the Residence Life Community Engagement Program is to provide students with opportunities to become comfortable living in their new community and learn tools to continue their engagement beyond their time in residences.

Coordinated events between residences and Montreal community organizations encourage residence students to take their first steps giving back to their city in a friendly and comfortable environment, with their friends and floor fellows by their sides.

Past Events

As a core focus of the McGill Rez experience, Community Engagement has allowed McGill students coming from all around the world to reach out to the local Montreal community. Various Rez students from across all residences have joined together to assist local shelters, food banks, activity centres, and many other amazing groups! Some organizations that McGill Rez students have engaged with in the past include the NDG Food Depot, Share the Warmth, Santropol Roulant, Baobab Familial, Reseau d’entraide de Verdun, Maison de L’Amitie, and many more!

Getting Involved

To stay updated on the most upcoming Community Engagement opportunities, feel free to check out the McGill Rez Life Facebook page! Also, this blog will be updated with information about various opportunities for students to get involved within the community. Students are always welcome to come visit the Residence Life Office to speak with the Community Engagement Facilitator for more details.
